Rotary Tables
McClellan engineers are experts at designing and building custom rotary tables with electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drive mechanisms for virtually any automation project. In designing your rotary table, we tailor the table rotation speed, worktable and thru-hole diameters, and custom nesting to the requirements of your project.
McClellan rotary tables can be equipped with custom features such as an anodized or nickel-plated aluminum dial with active or passive nesting affixed to its perimeter, vision inspection, reject and offload stations to your specifications. As with all of our automation systems, the McClellan rotary table systems are custom designed and built to fulfill the Customer’s project requirements. Our experienced engineers will deliver your system on time and without unwelcome surprises.
Active and Passive Nesting
McClellan Automation Engineers are versed in both active and passive nesting. In active nesting, the nest moves within defined limits as required by the application. For example, tooling can be lifted out of the nest to swage a small pin to the head of the part. In this case, swage loading is imparted through the tooling to the anvil support located under the dial, to prevent loading of the dial table itself. Active nesting may permit a lower dial inertia, which lowers operating costs.
Case Studies
McClellan’s recent rotary systems have been powered by Barrel Cam indexers (Ring Style), Sankyo Alpha-series mechanical indexers, and Camco servo-actuated indexers.
