Disposable Panel Assembly System
Customer automation need
(5) Machines; the prototype, (2) pallet indexers (1) 16 feet, (1) 10 feet, (1) Singles Panel Assembly Machine, (1) Assembly System.
The project had the following restrictions on machine design:
- Minimize footprint of machines
- Machine rate 30/min -- Laser marker cycle time required (2) lasers to make rate
- Product design evolved during production machine design; project kept pace.
- Budget -- Project Time and Materials
The required machine features were:
- Receive blank card and place on empty nest on the pallet indexer
- Feed/Punch out from Web feed and place in the wells on the cards in multiple formats
- Vision inspect for component assembly, placement accuracy
- Laser mark the card with date/lot code
- Foil seal the top of the card -- hermetic seal
- Offload the final parts to bulk
McClellan machine design solution/features
- Vision inspection
- Laser Marking
- Foil sealing
- Machine design allowing minimum footprint while allowing excellent access to machine for loading raw materials and maintenance.
- McClellan designed Servo/Pneumatic/Cam actuated pallet indexer 10" pallets-- design allowed improved packaging of station devices.
